PATIENT REFERENCE GROUP (PRG) The PRG, formally known as PPG (Patient Participation Group) continue to work with the Practice for the Practice. The PRG is a committeeof voluntary patients who supports the work of the practice. The committee meet monthly along with practice representatives to discuss matters arising and to discuss ongoing suggested improvements within the practice. The PRG organised a patients’ questionnaire earlier this year asking for patient views on general services provided and our surgery environments.The results of these questionnaires were amalgamated and discussed by the PRG and various issues were highlighted. We have always taken on board suggestions and comments from our patients and have for a long time held a suggestion box in the reception areas for this purpose.
As a result of the questionnaire we have replaced the seating at our branch surgery in Sandiway, removed the advertising screens at Danebridge to be replaced with TVs and are having self book-in terminals installed at The Kingsmead Medical Centre and The Sandiway Surgery. We have also provided high-rise chairs at all three of our sites. We hope that these improvements are welcomed by our patients and you continue to find the Newsletter informative!

|Better access to pre-book appointments
||We will be looking to introduce on-line booking of appointments during 2014
||Patients will have another method open to them to book an appointment. PRG will continue to monitor patient feedback and input into online booking process when introduced.
|You were happy with access to any doctor on any day
||We will be keeping the same number of appointments available ‘on the day’
||We will aim to have a variety of appointments – both pre-bookable and book on the day with each available doctor. PRG will continue to monitor.
|You would welcome the establishment of a ‘virtual’ PRG
||We will be contacting those of you who left your contact details on the recent survey forms
||The widening of the PRG to those who would prefer to communicate electronically rather than attend meetings. PRG will aim to contact during April/May 2014.
|The decoration of the surgery is poor
||The roof at Danebridge was repaired in March and we will be looking to formulate a programme of redecoration during the year. We will also be looking to update signage.
||Will be a more up to date building with a fresher look. PRG will monitor on an on-going basis.
|You needed better access to the surgery over the telephone
||The phone system is a ‘package’ provided by the former PCT and we are working with the IT section of the new body to make the best use of what is available to the practice
||We will continue to review the phone system and the way that we use it as a Practice. As mentioned in last years report, we would encourage patients, if not ringing for an appointment that day, to ring at a less busy time (after 10.00) and to be aware that your call is rotated around a group of telephones until it is answered. PRG will continue to monitor patient feedback on an ongoing basis.
